A second skin for the modern woman
EXUVIE is a womenswear label founded by Thi To Uyen Ly, built on the idea of creating clean, beautiful, and functional layerings for the body. Every piece is designed with purpose — to meet the real, everyday needs of modern life while balancing style and comfort in equal measure.The name EXUVIE comes from the Latin word exuviae — the cast-off shell of an animal. Most notably, the delicate, translucent chitin shell of a shrimp serves as visual and conceptual inspiration. This notion of an "empty shell" becomes a metaphor for clothing: a refined outer skin for the human body.
Thi To Uyen Ly is a German designer with Vietnamese roots. She studied Design and Art in Southern Germany, where she developed a deep passion for tailoring, material experimentation, and technology. Her work reflects a thoughtful balance between timeless craftsmanship and futuristic aesthetics — a quiet yet bold vision of contemporary femininity.
